Living Water in Zambia

David L. Meyer – CEO Hand of Hope

Hand of Hope started partnering with Overland Missions (overlandmissions.com) several years ago to support a small school for the precious children of Sichilobe, a village in Africa located about an hour outside of Zambia. We recently had another opportunity to partner with Overland Missions, this time to drill a water well to provide clean drinking water to the village of Sichilobe.

Getting the well drilled was no easy feat. After two failed attempts to find water the drill team prayed and on the third attempt hit water that gushed out of the drill hole. This work has become a great testimony to the community. It was not uncommon for the people of the village to walk over 2 miles roundtrip to get water from a river. Now, because of your generous support, clean drinking water is available to them right in the their own village.

The headman of the village wanted to honor the drilling team, but they pointed him to God who did the work. The headman of the village is going to church now and started praying because “God takes care of us like this!” Now many people in the village look to God as their source of water and so much more! This is one of two wells Hand of Hope has supported in Zambia through Overland Missions.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
