Christmas Giving

Shelly Meyer–Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

We recently had the opportunity to support an amazing outreach in the inner-city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In conjunction with our ministry partners at Healing Place Church, we helped host a Christmas party for 3,200 people in the community. There were plenty of activities for everyone, including games, face painting, entertainment and food. But most importantly, we were able to give away 1,375 bikes to children in Baton Rouge who may otherwise have not received a Christmas present this year.

The team at Healing Place Church shared with us, “we are so deeply grateful for amazing partnerships like the one we have with Hand of Hope that made it possible for us to collect and give out all of these bikes. Through this outreach, we were able to share the love of Jesus with thousands in our community here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.”

Our thanks to Healing Place Church and the partners and friends of Joyce Meyer Ministries who helped make this event possible.

Supporting the Philippine Typhoon Victims

Please pray with us for the people in the Southern Philippine Island of Mindanao. This region was recently struck by a devastating typhoon which resulted in disastrous flooding. Hundreds have lost their lives and over 25,000 families in and around the city of Cagayan de Oro have lost everything they owned.

Hand of Hope, in conjunction with Convoy of Hope and Don Clower's Ministries, is providing much needed relief efforts to help those affected by this deadly disaster. Containers carrying 18,000 meals have been sent from Convoy of Hope’s warehouse in Manila to Mindanao where torrential rains have killed over 900 people. Convoy of Hope is coordinating relief efforts with local government officials and local churches in the region to make sure food and disaster relief clean-up is directed where it is needed most.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mindanao as they recover from this disaster.

Living Water in Zambia

David L. Meyer – CEO Hand of Hope

Hand of Hope started partnering with Overland Missions (overlandmissions.com) several years ago to support a small school for the precious children of Sichilobe, a village in Africa located about an hour outside of Zambia. We recently had another opportunity to partner with Overland Missions, this time to drill a water well to provide clean drinking water to the village of Sichilobe.

Getting the well drilled was no easy feat. After two failed attempts to find water the drill team prayed and on the third attempt hit water that gushed out of the drill hole. This work has become a great testimony to the community. It was not uncommon for the people of the village to walk over 2 miles roundtrip to get water from a river. Now, because of your generous support, clean drinking water is available to them right in the their own village.

The headman of the village wanted to honor the drilling team, but they pointed him to God who did the work. The headman of the village is going to church now and started praying because “God takes care of us like this!” Now many people in the village look to God as their source of water and so much more! This is one of two wells Hand of Hope has supported in Zambia through Overland Missions.

Restoring Hope in Lebanon

Wade Hosseini - Hand of Hope Medical Missions Coordinator

I recently returned from Beirut Lebanon where Hand of Hope conducted a medical and dental outreach. Our team of 11 volunteers came from 3 different nations and partnered with the volunteer staff from Hand of Hope’s long term partner Heart for Lebanon. Through this combined effort, we were able to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of over 700 patients.

Our goal in Lebanon was simple: reach the medical needs of the people and let God’s work speak for itself. The hope we were able to spread allowed us to create a opening in the hearts of those who were desperately searching for Him. Over the span of five days we hosted clinics for people to obtain free health and dental care and spiritual healing. During that time nearly 200 Iraqi refugees, 200 prisoners from a Lebanese prison, and over 250 Bedouins and gypsies from 2 different camps attended our clinics and received the care and attention they desperately needed and otherwise would not have received without the loving care that Hand of Hope and it’s volunteers showed.

Providing Treatment for HIV/AIDS

Because of the amazing support of our partners and friends, Hand of Hope has been able to provide medical treatment and support to those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world through a home for HIV positive children and HIV/AIDS centers in India, two women’s homes in Ethiopia, and medical care for HIV positive children in Africa. In addition to these programs, Hand of Hope also provides HIV/AIDS treatment as needed through primary care hospitals in India and Cambodia, medical clinics in Haiti and Ethiopia, and many of the human trafficking restoration outreaches we support as well.

Today in South Africa, we distributed booklets to children and adults that provide practical information about prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and also explain the hope found in Jesus Christ which is available to everyone. We are so thankful to have the opportunity to show the love of Christ in such a practical way.
