Protecting Women and Children in Israel

Shelly Meyer–Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

Hezi was insistent that his wife Zohar have an abortion. The couple had just married and a baby was definitely not part of the plan. Zohar could not bear the thought of aborting their first child. Hand of Hope proudly partners with Be’ad Chaim in Israel, who offers support to women in Zohar’s situation. The Jerusalem office counselor met with the couple. Deuteronomy 30:19 was shared with Hezi and Zohar, “I call heaven and earth to witness … that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse, therefore choose life, that you may live and your seed.“ Zohar cried out, “Yes, I also want a blessing for our family...please let’s choose life so that we’ll be blessed.”

Zohar later became ill and feared a miscarriage. Amazingly, this crisis caused Hezi to have mercy on his wife and their unborn baby and he agreed to continue with the pregnancy! Zohar is just one of the many mothers and children Hand of Hope supports through Be’ad Chaim, an organization that is dedicated to the protection of mothers and unborn children in Israel.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
