Saving a Life in Sri Lanka

Ashley Wilkins - Hand of Hope Medical Missions Director

Gasping for breath, 68 year old Perianyen made her way to our medical outreach in Sri Lanka. When she arrived she was so weak from the lack of oxygen she collapsed on the ground struggling to breathe. Our team rushed to her side and we were able to administer life saving medication which saved Perianyen's life. After she was able to breathe again, the smile on her face was beautiful.

We just began our first medical/dental outreach of the year in Colombo, Sri Lanka which also kicks off a week of great ministry with Joyce and the team. What a great start we have had to our week of clinics! The community is happy we are here and everyone is talking about the Festival of Life with Joyce later this week.

We are seeing more diabetes and high blood pressure than I have ever seen in past clinics. Nearly every patient has issues with these two illnesses and almost none have had either checked in years. A lot of them take medicine but have no idea how much they should be taking because a doctor has not treated them in years. Our team is able to test and treat for both hypertension and diabetes which will be life saving for many.

We are so thankful to our wonderful partners who help make medical clinics like this one happen. Lives are being saved and hearts given to Jesus!

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
